Three independent apps reached 27 markets at the same time

By

PeakFinder identifies mountains, Koala Sampler makes music, and Wipr 2 blocks web clutter. All three appeared in 27 of the 51 sampled paid charts on July 16, 2026.

The tie disappears as soon as the local positions are opened. PeakFinder ranks near the front of several European charts. Koala Sampler spreads across Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Wipr 2 reaches 27 storefronts through lower, long-tail positions.

The same footprint with different force

PeakFinder's average position across ranked markets was 24.0, compared with 38.6 for Koala Sampler and 52.2 for Wipr 2. Each cost US$4.99 in the US storefront at the time of the check, although local prices vary.

PeakFinder: deep regional knowledge that expanded worldwide

Fabio Soldati writes that PeakFinder began after a family argument about the name of a mountain. The first 2010 release covered the Alps. Its data later expanded worldwide, with offline use and camera-based peak identification. Norway, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany were its strongest sampled markets.

Koala Sampler: a direct tool that travels across cultures

Marek Bereza describes designing Koala to keep people in a creative flow. Recording, chopping, sequencing, effects, and resampling fit into a touch interface. Its strongest positions were Chile, Argentina, Mexico, and New Zealand, followed by a much wider group across Europe and Asia.

Wipr 2: no top ten, still present in 27 markets

Wipr 2's best position was number 17 in Belgium. It continued through Norway, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and many smaller positions across Europe, Asia, Australia, and South Africa. A chart analysis limited to each country's top ten would miss it entirely.

What the three products share

  • The purpose fits into one sentence: identify mountains, sample sound on a phone, or remove Safari distractions.
  • All three used a one-time purchase in the US storefront.
  • The maker's product judgment is visible in the result rather than hidden behind a generic feature list.

What 27 markets cannot tell us

Apple's public charts contain no downloads, transactions, or revenue. The result means only that each app appeared in the paid top 100 of 27 sampled storefronts during the same collection run. It is a discovery signal, not a financial estimate.
